Mirabai Sheridan, of the Bronx and New York City resident Philip Budin has been indicted and arraigned on charges related to a Chappaqua home invasion in October last year, Westchester County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino, Jr. announced on Thursday.
The indictment alleges that at approximately 12:30 p.m. on Oct. 24 last year, Sheridan and Budin spotted their victim at DeCicco’s in Millwood. They proceeded to follow her to her Pond Hill Road in Chappaqua.
While carrying a bouquet of flowers, Sheridan allegedly approached the door of the home, armed with a gun. She forced her way inside and restrained her victim’s hands and wrists with plastic ties and stole items from the house while Budin waited in the car as a getaway driver. Scarpino noted that at the time of the first armed robbery, there was a child home.
Scarpino said that investigators from the New Castle Police Department and Westchester County District Attorney’s Office investigated the robbery, chasing a number of leads. On Nov. 14 last year, Sheridan and Budin were found in Mamaroneck as they followed another potential victim who was shopping at a local grocery store. The two were pulled over and arrested during the traffic stop. At the time of the stop and their arrest, there was a gun inside the car.
Both Sheridan and Budin were charged with robbery, burglary, attempted robbery, conspiracy and criminal possession of a firearm, all felonies. Additionally, Budin has been charged with tampering with physical evidence, a felony and Sheridan was charged with attempted tampering with physical evidence and endangering the welfare of a child, both misdemeanors. The two are scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, Feb. 6 to respond to the charges.
